It seems every blogger on the planet did a nice little 2014 recap so I thought I’d join in so you guys could get to know me a little bit better! And now after scrolling through my FB feed I realize that I do not post anything important about my life nor do I on Instagram so here’s a fun filled account of my year:
January- Started off with snow and ended with my looking for Valentine’s Day cards and seeing one that comes with a wearable eye-patch. For all your pirate friends who need some lovin’. A very boring month.
February- My work got really into the American Heart Association and we decorated the branch and raised money all month long. I read some great books, and I got into a pretty good work out regime that I’m pretty sure only lasted almost till July.
March- Volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House with work and got my car up to 50k miles! Kept up my workouts and found the best chicken fried rice recipe. I taught a bunch of kids at different schools about saving money on my company’s mobile branch. Yes, it’s a fully operational branch on wheels! And, I finished off the month by Bowling for Kid’s Sake with Big Brothers, Big Sisters.
April- Was pretty uneventful but I did make some awesome tie-dye cupcakes for my managers birthday and became the official cupcake lady at work. Also, I scored possibly the best deal of my life using ThredUp. I got a pair or J.Crew grey pixie pants with the original tags still attached for $12.49. I almost died when they came in the mail. Seriously, go check out ThredUp now.
May- Added to my Starbucks mug collection when my friend brought me back one from San Francisco! Completed the Heart Walk for the American Heart Association, got my first sunburn of the season and saw possibly the most obnoxious thing ever at HomeGoods. Oh, and I made Oreo cupcakes for a coworker’s birthday. NBD.
June- Had a massive cooking adventure with my friend Jessica; we made so many freezer meals. I started a 2,000 piece puzzle for the second time and didn’t finish it, again. I went to a spa for the first time and got a facial, massage and my nails done! I don’t know what took me so long to do this but it was amazing (I had gotten a gift card for Christmas).
July- This was probably the best month of the whole year. It started off flying to North Carolina with my cousin to visit our other cousin Dayna for a few days. We went to Carowinds theme park and this awesome outdoor mall that had a dinner and a movie place! We laid out by the pool and had a fantastic time. I may have even gotten a slight tan. The day after I got back from NC I went to New Hampshire to visit an old roommate and her family. I made the cutest monster cupcakes for a coworker and spent lots of Wednesdays on the Mobile Branch racking up the overtime.
August- Not a good month. I spent the majority of it fixing up the house my now ex-boyfriend bought. I peeled off tons of wallpaper, replaced outlets, painted trim and air vents, power washed the house all while taking care of a puppy. By the way, It’s incredibly hard trying to train a puppy while re-doing a house. But, look how cute Jameson was! I miss him.
September- This month started pretty awful with moving out of my apartment and into my mom’s house. I had a broken heart and instead of moving into my boyfriend’s house, I was moving into my moms. Not something I wanted to be doing at 24. I did all that I could to stay positive despite moving in the rain and was rewarded the next day by making honey! Well, the bees made the honey, I just helped harvest it. But it was a great way to keep my mind off things and start to move forward. This month I also booked my first trip to Europe (I’ll do a whole post on this in the future if you want know more) through Contiki and I cannot wait to go. The month ended with my 25th birthday and a trip to Adirondack Extreme which is an adventure course up in the trees. It was seriously the most fun and the most physically draining day I had all year.
October- Began with what might be the best cupcakes I’ve ever made. They were Peanut butter cupcakes with peanut butter frosting for another manager’s birthday. I participated in a Breast Cancer Walk in a local park and it was FREEZING but so rewarding to see all those people come together for a great cause. The month ended with me packing up to move out of my mom’s house…
November-… and into my grandmothers. I missed living near my friends and coworkers and my grandma really liked the idea of not living alone so it all worked out. I’ve got a bigger room here and even a walk in closet! I went to NYC for a day and got 0 holiday shopping done but had a lot of fun adventures trying to navigate the city. But, the highlight of the month came when I finally decided to start blogging instead of just talking about it. I had been reading blogs for years and always wanted to start writing and I couldn’t think of a better time to start.
December-I blogged every single day until Christmas and I was so proud of myself for sticking with it. Also, my good friend Eric and his fiancé asked me to be in charge of the decorations for their wedding. I was, and still am so flattered and excited. The year ended with going up to a First Night event for New Year ’s Eve and watching bands and hanging out at a 5 story bar. We watched fireworks at midnight and it was so magical. It was at that moment that I didn’t feel lonely anymore. I’m fully healed from my breakup and am looking forward to so many things in 2015. BRING IT ON.
Thanks for reading. What are you excited for in 2015?
