How I Cure A Bad Day

  1. HowICureABadDayBlast some music. I Don’t F With You by Big Sean and E-40 is my current go-to grumpy mood song. Seriously. This song is horribly great. It reminds me that I really don’t need to worry about what other people think of me or what everyone else is out doing without me. Also, this was an especially helpful breakup song haha. Plus, who doesn’t love blasting music when they’re upset?
  2. Stretch. Your body will thank you. Lie on the ground and really take the time to stretch out all of your muscles. Focus on your breathing when you’re doing this. It’s extremely calming. No matter how grumpy I am or how crummy I’m feeling I always feel better after I stretch everything out.
  3. Drink a ton of water. Again, your body will thank you. If I’ve been crying the last thing I want to do is drink water but I know how much my skin will appreciate it. Also, If I’m feeling kind of sick or just not 100% staying hydrated is the best thing you can do to help your body. No matter how yucky or crummy I feel I make sure to drink more water than normal.
  4. Go for a walk/run/drive anything that will get you on your own for a little bit. It’s so much easier to clear your head when you are alone (at least for me). I personally love to go for drives alone when I’m feeling down. You can really take the time to evaluate your bad day and see for what it is. Just one day. Just 24 hours of crap and tomorrow is a brand new day that you can do whatever you want with.
  5. Eat something healthy for lunch or dinner. As great as it feels in that moment to stuff your face with popcorn or ice cream or french-fries you will just end up in a worse mood once you think about how much you ate and how much longer you’ll have to spend at the gym tomorrow. I always start to feel better when I know I’ve eaten something that my body will respond well to. Save the popcorn for a day when you’re not eating your feelings. It’ll taste so much better.
  6. Write until your hand cramps up. I find that writing down all of my feelings really helps me to put them into perspective. I feel less sad or angry or grumpy when I see it all on paper. It’s a huge weight off of your shoulders to see your issues all written out. Plus, thinking about what your writing really keeps me from overanalyzing situations because I’m so focused on getting everything onto paper that I don’t have the time to think what if I did this, or acted like this. Once my thoughts are on paper I tell myself that the situation is over and that it’s time to move onto better thoughts.

What do you do to cure your bad days?

Read Winter Street ✓

20150107_122600

7 Days into the New Year and I’ve already finished my first book of the year! I read Winter Street by Elin Hilderbrand and I loved it. I will admit that I totally judged this book by its cover when I was perusing the book section at Target. The wintery book cover with the Christmas wreath on the door drew me in immediately. I’ve only read one other book by Elin Hilderbrand before but it was so long ago that I only sort of recognized her name. After refreshing myself, I do remember that I did love Summer Affair and now that I’ve read Winter Street I’ll be checking out more of her books. Onto the review/recap!

So, it turns out that this is Elin’s first Christmas novel and after reading Winter Street, I hope there will be many more, or maybe even a sequel! I really enjoy books written from the perspective of different characters so that I can really understand each side of a situation. You learn so much about each character as the book progresses and you really learn how they all feel about each other and why they interact in the way that they do, which Elin portrays extremely well. The main characters are Kelley, who owns the Winter Street Inn; Mitzi, Kelley’s wife and co-owner of the Inn. Ava, Patrick and Kevin are Kelley’s three adult children with his former wife Margaret. And then there is Bart, who is never a narrator in the book (due to him being in Afghanistan) but his presence is strongly felt, because we get to hear different stories about him from each of the main characters.

Because of how well developed each character is they are really believable as a modern day family. Margaret says it best when thinking about her relationship with Bart “She is something of a reverse stepmother to Bart, the first wife of his father, the mother to his half siblings. Why isn’t there a term for this relationship?” That statement really made me think because I know a lot of relationships like this; And there isn’t a term. There are so many complicated family situations nowadays that it’s nice to read books that don’t have just a simple nuclear family. I like reading about families with unusual and complicated relationships because they are more realistic and relatable to me.

In Winter Street, each character is going through their own emotional episode and it’s rather magical watching as this dysfunctional family gathers for Christmas to support each other even while they are dealing with their own personal struggles. Kelley finds out that his wife has been cheating on him with the man that plays Santa Clause at the Inn’s holiday party. Mitzi is dealing with the choices her son has made to join the Marines. Ava is struggling to get her boyfriend Nathaniel to commit long term. Kevin is hiding a relationship with an Inn employee and Patrick, who is the ‘perfect’ one in the family has just been put on a leave of absence for his questionable business practices. Despite the individual dramas of the characters Winter Street is a perfect light read for Christmas time. The story line is fairly predictable but that’s what I liked about the book. I felt like I got to know the characters so well that I know how they would react to situations and how their story would conclude at the end of the book. I felt as if I was actually at the Inn with all of them the way the Christmas décor and the rooms were described.

I have a habit of reading the same books at Christmastime to get me in the festive mood and this will definitely get read every Christmas.

Have you read Winter Street? What did yo think? Do you guys read specific books at certain times of the year? Let me know in the comments!

2015 Goals!

2015Goals

Hello Readers!

I know this post is a few days behind everyone else’s but I really wanted to take the time to figure out exactly what I wanted to accomplish this year that wasn’t too extreme. Yeah, everyone has “get into better shape” on their resolutions list and so do I, but I wanted to pick some different goals. Plus, who wants to go to the gym in January when there will be about 500x more people there than normal? I sure don’t.

  1. Keep a daily journal. Nothing fancy, just a recap of what I did for the day or a brief mention of something memorable. I just wrote up my 2014 recap and I couldn’t remember anything without the help of Facebook or Instagram.
  2. Post 2-3 times per week on the blog. I don’t want to go overboard with my goals and say 5x a week so I think 2-3 is reasonable.
  3. Learn to be more spontaneous. I am a big planner and it’s hard for me to go with the flow and do things on a whim. I find I have a lot of fun sometimes when things aren’t planned down to the minute.
  4. Hike, like go out and buy hiking boots kind of hike.
  5. Buy a house. Now, I know this seems like a lofty goal but I’m already on track. My county has a first time homebuyer’s grant that I’m signed up for so (fingers crossed) I could be a homeowner as early as August!
  6. Plan 2016’s vacation. Or, vacation hours permitting, 2015’s vacation part 2!

Hope you liked reading my goals for the year, What are some goals you have for 2015?

My Nightly Routine!

Nighttimeroutine115

Hello Readers!

Today I wanted to share with you all my nighttime routine. I used to be in the horrible habit of going to bed with my makeup on every night and just showering it all off in the morning. A big goal of mine for 2014 was to get into a routine that I can be sure to do every night. I’ve found a combination of products that work for me and I haven’t changed any of them in the past few months. Some of these products I’ve even been using for years now and my skin still loves them.

Facewipes

First up are my all-time favorite makeup wipes. I use these every night no matter how lazy I’m feeling. I have tried numerous brands and haven’t found a single one that removes my makeup as well without drying out my skin. The cloths are made of spun silk and are incredibly soft. They get my makeup off without me having to excessively rub at my face, even if i’m wearing waterproof mascara. I buy these at Marshalls and have for years and they are $4.99 for a pack of 60. Which is pretty inexpensive compared to other cleansing cloths out there. You can find these at Nicka.com but if you can get them at Marshalls they’re a few dollars cheaper.

CleanserNow I will admit that I do sometimes skip this step out of laziness. But, when I don’t skip I use the First Aid Beauty face cleanser. This really gets all the stuff the makeup wipes leave behind and I feel like it really gets into my pores and gets rid of all the dirt. The texture is very creamy which I prefer to more sudsy cleansers. They just feel more luxurious to me. I never realized how stripping my previous cleanser was until I dried my face after using this the first time and my skin didn’t feel tight or flaky. I’ve also noticed that my skin tends to be less red when I use it morning and night.

tonerThe third step in my regime is to use a toner. I really see a difference in the texture of my skin after using a toner. My pores are less visible and my skin is softer and somehow there is always just a little bit of makeup on that cotton pad too. The Clinique Clarifying Lotion does a great job of tightening my pores without drying my skin out and I’ve used a plethora of bottles of this over the past few years. Once this last bit is used up I do have a replacement that I haven’t tried and I’m really excited to see how it compares. Do any of you use the Body Shop’s tea tree toner? Let me know how you like it.

lipscrubAfter I use toner and everything is off my face I like to use a lip scrub. I don’t use this every day, maybe a few times a week. This Bubblegum lip scrub from LUSH makes my lips look so smooth. The thick, gritty texture of the sugar scrub really gets all the dead skin off my lips and it tastes fantastic. I usually rub this into my lips for a minute or so and then lick off the excess. If bubblegum isn’t your thing, they also have mint julep, popcorn and a limited edition coke flavor.

lipbalmAfter the lip scrub I heap on a generous amount of my current favorite lip balm to keep my lips hydrated overnight. I use the Nivea: A kiss of Moisture but I do change up my lip balm pretty frequently. I have yet to find a lip balm that I’m head over heels for so please let me know what you use. The Nivea is a great lip balm but it doesn’t stay on all night.

eyecreamOnce my lips are hydrated I move onto my eye cream. I use the Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Resist 24 all over my orbital bone. I haven’t tried many eye creams because this stuff works fantastic. I have a sample size that seems to be lasting me forever. I’m sure I don’t use the recommended amount but I’m still really pleased with this product. I’ve had the sample size for a few months now and I really see a difference in my eyes. I never wake up with puffy eyes and the formulation sinks into my skin almost immediately. This is great for people with sensitive skin even though it has hyaluronic acid in it, it doesn’t sting my eyes.

neckmoisturizerThis next cream I use on my neck and chest, or décolletage (let’s be honest, it’s so much more fun to say décolletage).  It’s the Skincare LdeL Cosmetics Retinol night cream. Basically I bought this at Marshalls because it says Retinol and I got excited. I don’t have any wrinkles, but prevention is a main priority of mine. It’s thick without being greasy and it hydrates really well, perfect for nighttime use. I do want to upgrade to a real retinol type product but I’m still souring reviews to find one that I want to try.

facemoisturizerAnd last but not least I apply my Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair moisturizer all over my face. I have used this for months and notice a huge difference in my skin. That one stubborn line forming on my forehead seems to be disappearing and has yet to become noticeable to anyone but me (I hope). Also, it has done wonders for the sunspots that I’ve started to get. The formulation is perfect for night time because it is rich and creamy without being sticky. For the price, this is the best night time moisturizer I have ever tried and now that I realize there is a whole line of products I’m going to try them all.

Thanks for reading! Let me know what you use for your night time routine below!

My 2014 Review!

2014

Hello Readers!

It seems every blogger on the planet did a nice little 2014 recap so I thought I’d join in so you guys could get to know me a little bit better! And now after scrolling through my FB feed I realize that I do not post anything important about my life nor do I on Instagram so here’s a fun filled account of my year:

Card

January- Started off with snow and ended with my looking for Valentine’s Day cards and seeing one that comes with a wearable eye-patch. For all your pirate friends who need some lovin’. A very boring month.

go red

February- My work got really into the American Heart Association and we decorated the branch and raised money all month long. I read some great books, and I got into a pretty good work out regime that I’m pretty sure only lasted almost till July.

studentbanking

March- Volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House with work and got my car up to 50k miles! Kept up my workouts and found the best chicken fried rice recipe. I taught a bunch of kids at different schools about saving money on my company’s mobile branch. Yes, it’s a fully operational branch on wheels! And, I finished off the month by Bowling for Kid’s Sake with Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

cupcakes

April- Was pretty uneventful but I did make some awesome tie-dye cupcakes for my managers birthday and became the official cupcake lady at work. Also, I scored possibly the best deal of my life using ThredUp. I got a pair or J.Crew grey pixie pants with the original tags still attached for $12.49. I almost died when they came in the mail. Seriously, go check out ThredUp now.

May

May- Added to my Starbucks mug collection when my friend brought me back one from San Francisco! Completed the Heart Walk for the American Heart Association, got my first sunburn of the season and saw possibly the most obnoxious thing ever at HomeGoods. Oh, and I made Oreo cupcakes for a coworker’s birthday. NBD.

freezer meals

June- Had a massive cooking adventure with my friend Jessica; we made so many freezer meals. I started a 2,000 piece puzzle for the second time and didn’t finish it, again. I went to a spa for the first time and got a facial, massage and my nails done! I don’t know what took me so long to do this but it was amazing (I had gotten a gift card for Christmas).

July

July- This was probably the best month of the whole year. It started off flying to North Carolina with my cousin to visit our other cousin Dayna for a few days. We went to Carowinds theme park and this awesome outdoor mall that had a dinner and a movie place! We laid out by the pool and had a fantastic time. I may have even gotten a slight tan. The day after I got back from NC I went to New Hampshire to visit an old roommate and her family. I made the cutest monster cupcakes for a coworker and spent lots of Wednesdays on the Mobile Branch racking up the overtime.

Jameson

August- Not a good month. I spent the majority of it fixing up the house my now ex-boyfriend bought. I peeled off tons of wallpaper, replaced outlets, painted trim and air vents, power washed the house all while taking care of a puppy. By the way, It’s incredibly hard trying to train a puppy while re-doing a house. But, look how cute Jameson was! I miss him.

September

September- This month started pretty awful with moving out of my apartment and into my mom’s house. I had a broken heart and instead of moving into my boyfriend’s house, I was moving into my moms. Not something I wanted to be doing at 24. I did all that I could to stay positive despite moving in the rain and  was rewarded the next day by making honey! Well, the bees made the honey, I just helped harvest it. But it was a great way to keep my mind off things and start to move forward. This month I also booked my first trip to Europe (I’ll do a whole post on this in the future if you want know more) through Contiki and I cannot wait to go. The month ended with my 25th birthday and a trip to Adirondack Extreme which is an adventure course up in the trees. It was seriously the most fun and the most physically draining day I had all year.

October

October- Began with what might be the best cupcakes I’ve ever made. They were Peanut butter cupcakes with peanut butter frosting for another manager’s birthday. I participated in a Breast Cancer Walk in a local park and it was FREEZING but so rewarding to see all those people come together for a great cause. The month ended with me packing up to move out of my mom’s house…

nyc

November-… and into my grandmothers. I missed living near my friends and coworkers and my grandma really liked the idea of not living alone so it all worked out. I’ve got a bigger room here and even a walk in closet! I went to NYC for a day and got 0 holiday shopping done but had a lot of fun adventures trying to navigate the city. But, the highlight of the month came when I finally decided to start blogging instead of just talking about it. I had been reading blogs for years and always wanted to start writing and I couldn’t think of a better time to start.

NYE

December-I blogged every single day until Christmas and I was so proud of myself for sticking with it. Also, my good friend Eric and his fiancé asked me to be in charge of the decorations for their wedding. I was, and still am so flattered and excited. The year ended with going up to a First Night event for New Year ’s Eve and watching bands and hanging out at a 5 story bar. We watched fireworks at midnight and it was so magical. It was at that moment that I didn’t feel lonely anymore. I’m fully healed from my breakup and am looking forward to so many things in 2015. BRING IT ON.

Thanks for reading. What are you excited for in 2015?

December Sample Birchbox!

Hello Readers!

I got a Birchbox subscription!!!!

I know, I’m a little late on the bandwagon but it finally happened. I’m going to do an unboxing every month with a mini review of all the products once I’ve tried them out. This is a little late for a December box but I did get it for Christmas (Thanks Mom!).

If you don’t know what Birchbox is, it’s a $10 monthly subscription that sends sample sizes of great beauty products right to your door! You fill out a profile so the products are tailored to things for your skin type as well as personal style. If you like the products you received that month you can easily go to the Birchbox website and buy the full sized products right there! It’s a one stop shop.

First off, I am keeping this box. It is way more adorable than I thought it would be. This month’s box has:

Birchbox1214

GAP Gift Card

A $10 gift card! Perfect for after Christmas holiday sales.

Coola mineral sunscreen

This is a very lightly tinted bb cream with an SPF 30! I’ve only tried this out a few times but I already know I’m going to love it. It’s matte, and it evens out my skin tone nicely so I don’t have to wear foundation and it’s one of the few products with SPF in it that doesn’t smell like sunscreen! When the summer comes around I’m definitely going to be buying this in a full size. ($36)

English Laundry by Christopher Wicks

I love getting perfume samples. It is so hard to pick out perfume at a store because there are just too many options and after a while everything smells the same. The little cups of coffee beans don’t help. It’s nice having sample sizes to bring home and try out for a few days to see if you really like it. The scent in the tube, is very floral but not too girly smelling? Does that make sense? Read the description online, I’m horrible at describing scents and colors. I’ve worn this the past 3 days and I’m putting it on my list of things to buy once I run out of another perfume. I have too many right now and cannot justify buying another.  ($18)

Lord & Berry eyeliner

I’m terrified of this. For a few reasons- 1) I never wear black liner 2) Glitter in liner seems like a recipe for disaster (aka things in your eyeballs). I’m going to try it out for realz on New Year’s Eve but I’ve been wearing it around the house today and it’s… different. Normally I wear brown or dark purple liner so it’s quite the adjustment wearing black. And, I normally wear pencil liners just on my water line and use a liquid liner on the top of my lid. This pencil was a bit dry and hard to apply fluidly across my lid but it could be because I’m used to using liquid liner? I really do like the glitter although I would never wear glitter every day. This liner is also blend-able which is going to be nice when I attempt a smoky eye for NYE. Wish me luck! ($18)

Real Chemistry Luminous 3 Minute Peel

Peels= Amazing. They are so satisfying to use, almost like those Biore strips that you peel off of your nose and you see all the blackheads come out? That kind of satisfying. This peel has a smooth gel texture and you apply an even layer all over your face and then wait for 30 seconds. Then, you rub it all in for about 2-3 minutes. This was pretty hard to do because it does ball up quickly but I timed it on my phone so I wouldn’t give up. The little balls of product that come off feels so nice because you know that it’s full of that top layer of skin. My skin was SO SOFT afterwards and not at all dried out. When I did my nightly routine (stay tuned!) I could really tell that my skin drank up my night cream and became even smoother. Update: 2 days later and my skin is still soft. I have to consciously remind myself not to touch my face. ($48)

Tocca Crema Da Mano- Cleopatra

Well, there was bound to be something I wasn’t a fan of. Actually, that’s a lie. I love this, just not for winter. The lotion is very moisturizing without being greasy and it leaves my skin silky soft. But, it smells like mango and melons. Not the ideal scent when it’s 20 degrees outside. This has gone into my makeup bag to hibernate until spring. ($10)

That’s it for Birchbox #1 and if you want to subscribe or purchase any of these products just go to the Birchbox website! I’ll see you all again next month!

Benefit Cosmetics Advent Calendar Review

Hello Readers!

I’m back today with a recap of my Advent calendar! This year I purchased the Benefit Cosmetics Candy-Coated Countdown. I love Benefit so I wanted to get this set because each day you un-wrap a mini of a bunch of their products and there was so much out there that I still hadn’t tried. I wanted to go over this with you because A) they have this every year so you can totally put it on your wish list for next year B) It’s still available on Sephora’s website and C) I really wanted to focus on Benefit for my first makeup post because they are one of my favorite brands.

s1636463-main-hero-300

This set was $99 and comes with 24 products, 18 of them are makeup or skincare related. That comes down to about $4.13 per product which is about half of what it would be to buy a deluxe sample which runs around $8. I think some of the products art teenier than the deluxe samples? Not positive.

Into the review!

This calendar definitely had a little bit of everything except for powders. I was really interested in trying some blushes or bronzers and this didn’t have any. There also wasn’t a sample foundation. Bummer. The set did contain almost everything else Benefit has to offer.

Mascara

Firstly, there were 2 mascaras in the calendar. They’re Real and Bad Gal Lash. They’re Real is one of my favorite mascaras of all time. It has a plastic brush with a round nub on the end that really allows you to get even the teeniest of lashes. The formula coats really well and I haven’t had any troubles with this flaking throughout the day. It’s also pretty difficult to remove unless you really go at it with a makeup remover which is pretty nice. Bad Gal lash was something I had never tried but am really impressed with. It has a bristle brush that really coats every single lash all the way around. This doesn’t clump at all and the formula is wet enough where you can really get an even coat around all your lashes before it dries up. This mascara comes off super easily with makeup remover and it holds a curl extremely well!

  Tints2

Tints

Benetint, ChaChatint, Posietint

3 tints! Yep, this calendar had Benetint, ChaChaTint and Posietint. I love all three of these in different ways. I had never tried the cheek and lip tints before because I was honestly afraid that I’d look like a clown. But, they do take a lot longer to dry than I thought so you can really blend them in. Benetint for me is perfect for my lips or cheeks. It’s not too crazy of a red but it’s more of a winter shade for me. ChaChaTint is a pretty peachy/mango color that I was terrified of. I will probably never wear this on my lips but it’s great on my cheeks it gives a really nice peachy glow, perfect for summer! And finally, Posietint. This one is my favorite. It’s perfect for my lips and cheeks and I’ve already worn it frequently. The formula of the Posietint and ChaChatint are a bit more gelly which I like a lot more than the Benetint which is more of a liquid;  It makes them so much easier to blend out. Oh, and these basically stay on forever if you don’t use makeup remover. YAY!Glosses2

Glosses

A-Lister, Fauxmance, Dandelion

Now onto something I wasn’t a huge fan of. The lip glosses. I know I’m in the minority here but I am not a lip gloss fan. This set came with 3 Ultra Plush glosses, A-Lister, Fauxmance and Dandelion. A-Lister is a shimmery bubblegum pink color that’s actually really pretty. Too shiny for my taste but I do love the color. I did wear it all day recently and I did get a few complements. So that’s a win. Fauxmance may have actually converted me to a lip gloss wearer. Seriously. This is the most beautiful mauve-y pink color and it’s one of those your lips but better colors. It has ZERO shimmer in it (hooray!) so it looks really nice on my lips. I will buy this full sized. Dandelion had the best packaging but was the color I liked the least. It’s peachy and shimmery so I honestly haven’t even worn it. Out of the 2 I did try, they weren’t very sticky which was a pleasant surprise AND they all smell like a sugary vanilla. So good. They staying power is similar to other glosses I’ve tried so nothing to write home about but the Fauxmance’s color definitely makes it worth reapplying.

 Pores

Next up is my ALL-TIME FAVORITE Benefit product. So far anyways. I have been using The Porefessional for years now and I love it. I wear it every day on my forehead and cheeks to make my pores disappear and I have yet to find anything that works as well. I was over the moon to get a mini size for traveling. The Porefessional goes on so smoothly and it feels velvety soft like a primer. My foundation goes right over it without smearing it or looking cakey. I could honestly do a whole post on how much I love The Porefessional.

Primers2

Primers

Stay Flawless, Stay Don’t Stray, That Gal

Keeping up with the theme of primers this calendar came with That Gal, Stay Don’t Stray, and Stay Flawless 15hr primer. I had never tried any of these before and I hadn’t even realized that Benefit made so many primers. That Gal is not my friend. It’s supposed to be a brightening primer that really just made me look pink. The consistency was very liquidy so it took a lot of blending to get it to dry enough to put foundation on. Not a fan. Stay Don’t Stray is a great primer for my concealer because it really does not move and it keeps my concealer from looking cakey. Although I don’t really wear eye shadow I still put this on my lids and it really evens out my skin tone and it keeps them from getting oily. Stay Flawless is my favorite of the 3 and I REALLY like Stay Don’t Stray. This primer really keeps my t-zone from getting oily throughout the day and it goes on basically invisible. My foundation stays true to color with this underneath which is a huge bonus. This product keeps my skin feeling super smooth and you can’t beat the packaging. I will definitely be buying this in a full size.

Highlighters2

Highlighters

Watt’s Up, Highbeam

These next 2 products are highlighters/brighteners. Watt’s Up and Highbeam are both products I like and highly recommend. I don’t like to be sparkly or greasy looking and both of these add shine without making you look sweaty. Watt’s Up is perfect because it comes in a stick form so it’s incredibly easy to apply to the top of your cheeks for added shine. I also like to put this on my collar bones if I’m wearing a tank top to really make them stand out. Watt’s Up is more of a flesh tone so it’s more subtle than Highbeam which is a white shimmer.  Highbeam is also more of a liquid consistency so a little bit goes a long way. Trust me. It’s really easy to over-do it. But, if you have a light hand this is beautiful on the brow bone as well as the cupids bow. I’ve even put the tiniest dab on the center of my lips when wearing lipstick and it really makes them stand out. The sample sizes will basically last me forever, but when they run out I would totally buy the full sizes.

face

The calendar also came with 2 skincare products. I had never tried anything from their skincare line so I was stoked when these were in the kit. It’s Potent! Eye cream is fantastic so far. It’s hydrating and it doesn’t irritate my eyes! There is no fragrance in this or the face cream which my skin loves. I have fairly sensitive skin and any cream that has a fragrance is not good. I’ve been using this as my night cream and I really see a difference every morning; my eyes are less puffy. Extremely impressed. Next up is the Total Moisture Facial Cream which is also awesome. No fragrance=happy skin. I also like that this is very moisturizing but not at all sticky. My skin really sucks this stuff up and it keeps my face hydrated throughout the day. This was the perfect moisturizer for wintertime. Also, did I mention how much I love the packaging? The little glass containers are ADORABLE. And the full size ones have cork looking lids. I need them.

Random

Ohh La Lift was completely new to me. It’s an under eye brightener that brightens without being shimmery. It also goes on over my concealer very smoothly. This really has been making my under eye area look less tired. I have even tried this out on my lids. So far I’m really enjoying it.

Last up for the makeup is Fake Up. Hahaha that rhymed. Fake Up is a hydrating concealer which sounds like it would be awesome right? Well, not for me. I really did not like this. I was disappointed in the concealer, which barely covered anything in my opinion and I am not at all happy with the hydrating portion. I felt oily all day. If you have a dry under-eye area this is probably fantastic but I don’t. At least the packaging is adorable.

Stuff

And last but certainly not least! Just kidding. This is all the random stuff that got shoved in the calendar. I get that you can’t have all makeup without this being like $400 but I was still mildly sad to see all of this other stuff. Firstly, there were paperclips. Heart shaped paperclips are pretty adorable but this was Day 1’s prize and I was pretty disappointed that I didn’t get makeup right off the bat. Oh well. There were also 3 different hair ties that are actually very pretty and I will use them. I’m always losing hair ties so these will be perfect in my purse. The calendar also had 2 notepads which I’m pretty excited about. I always need sticky notes and I always need paper. I am always looking for scrap paper so into my purse these go too!

Overall I really enjoyed the Benefit Advent calendar this year but I don’t think I will be repurchasing it next year. I do find it was well worth the money I spent because I never would have tried out a lot of these products without it. Also, from watching some YouTuber’s with their calendars last year I do believe the products don’t change much so I’m going to hunt for a new one next year. Leave me some comments below with your suggestions!

Thank you so much for reading, sorry it was such a long post but I had a lot to say! Let me know what your favorite Benefit products are and if there’s anything else I should try!
